Ezone update April '12
03 April 2012
The last few months have been very busy as usual.
We have planted up a small orchard with apples, pears, plums, gages and quince. Reception children and most of their parents helped to plant the trees. The Mayor of Dudley also came along! Dudley Catering and Client Services funded the project which we are very grateful for. Soft fruit bushes will also be planted - redcurrant, blackcurrant and blueberry.
Year 3 Forest School is truly established. The children have been helping to create an area where we can saw, whittle and chop wood safely plus a kitchen area. The plan is to build a clay oven and create a fire pit so that we can do different cooking.
Easter provides a welcome break.
Easter Egg-splore 03/04/12
03 April 2012
We had over 70 people for the event - the weather held for us too!!! Peoplewere able to take part in a number of art activities,
Outside there were 2 trails to follow - one for the younger children where they had to 'Find the Chicken' and record the names, and a harder egg hunt following clues round the site.
Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves - many thanks for supporting the Ezone again.
The event was run with the help of the staff from the Gornal Children's Centre.
Christmas Event 11/12/11
11 December 2011
What a fantastic morning we had here at the Ezone. Over 40 people turned up to make wreathes, table top decorations, willow stars & bells, smelly pouches, cook dough over a barbecue and fill the case with meddlar paste and chocolate!!
Thanks to all who helped out and to those for supporting the event.
Toilet Feature
17 September 2011
The toilets that have been seen in the sensory garden have certainly brought about many comments during the last few months.
One has been planted up with flowers and the second has been set up to appear that it is overflowing. A small solar panel drives a pump. The solar panel was purchased using prize money won through the Dudley Heroes scheme.
Weather Station
17 September 2011
The Ezone has just installed a new weather station. This replaces the current one we have, which is now over 5 years old.
Data will be available from the website - still working on this installment.
A wireless signal is sent from the unit to a receiver in the Ezone classroom where the data can be seen on a display unit.
